The Argentina skipper had conquered every summit in world football after he inspired his national team to Copa America glory in 2021, barring the World Cup. However, the Copa win was the perfect prelude to his global coronation in Qatar in 2022 where he played an instrumental role by recording seven goals and three assists during Argentina's run to their third global title. Messi believes it was the perfect finale which could have been a splendid ending if a movie was to be made out his career.

Speaking to , he said: "If a movie had to be made, no one would have thought of it like that. That it happened the way it did after everything that had happened, the disappointments in the Copa América and World Cups, was extraordinary, impressive.
"She (The World Cup) is the most desired by everyone. Anyone dreams big and the biggest thing is to be a champion with your national team.
"I was lucky to achieve everything at the club level in Barcelona and also at the individual level. It was the only one I was missing. There are few players who can say they achieved everything. And thank God I'm one of them," he continued.
"With effort, sacrifice, work, and humility, in the end, you achieve your goals. The road can be hard, but you have to keep fighting for your dreams to try to achieve them. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't, but you never have to stop to try it.
I love playing ball, I love coming to the national team, I love being on the premises and before I couldn't enjoy it like today.'

Messi admitted that he was under pressure to deliver on the biggest stage of international football. In 2014, he came close but Germany emerged triumphant and in 2022, Kylian Mbappe almost single-handedly steered France to their second world title in four years but ultimately, the Argentines had the last laugh following an intense penalty shootout which took off the burden from Messi's shoulders.
"Being world champion changed me in the peace of mind that in my job, in inverted commas because it is still a job," he revealed.
"I was able to achieve everything. I was able to achieve what I dreamt of as a player and there was nothing left for me to do. That is the greatest pleasure. As when one achieves the goal in any field. Proud and satisfied to have done the job."
