Leeds fans have been surprisingly undeterred by news of an injury to left-back Barry Douglas which will see him out for the rest of the season, with supporters adamant that he won’t be missed too much.
The official club website confirmed the news on Tuesday morning that Douglas had suffered a medial ligament rupture in his knee during the Millwall game.
The Scot initially played through the injury to help earn Leeds all three points on Saturday but further scans showed that he will miss the rest of the season.
Douglas has been in and out of the Leeds team having suffered multiple injuries since moving to Elland Road last summer, limiting him to only 27 appearances in the Championship.
Fans of the club are still quietly confident despite Douglas’ injury with Ezgjan Alioski or Leif Davis more than capable of filling his boots. Other fans, meanwhile, took the opportunity to criticise Douglas’ performances this season, maintaining belief that this news won’t dent their promotion push.
