As reported by The Scotsman, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has opened up on recent transfer speculation linking him with a move away from the club and has admitted an ambition to play in the English Premier League.
What’s the story?
Rangers were reported to have rejected multiple bids for the Colombian in January and February, with Chinese Super League and South American sides apparently interested in his services.
A move ultimately did not materialise and the player signed a new contract with the club until 2021.
It appears though the prospect of him staying at Ibrox long-term is unlikely.
As quoted by The Scotsman, Morelos said:
All options for China are closed for now. I am focused on doing things well and continue to grow as a player and human being.
I like the English Premier League very much. “Scotland’s football is very close to the Premier League, even our league has a very similar name to it.
I know clubs from all over England will be watching me and that encourages me to do well.#
Can Rangers hold on to the player this summer, or is he destined to only spend a single season at the club?

How important is he to Rangers?
With 17 goals for the club this season, Morelos is the club’s joint top scorer alongside Josh Windass and offers skills in the first team that are unique in Graeme Murty’s squad.
The Gers don’t have another player than can offer the physicality he does when playing as a lone striker and although his chance conversion rate has been a little iffy, he’s had an impressive debut season for the Light Blues.
If Rangers are to push on next season and challenge Celtic then retaining him is key. They can’t go selling on their best players this summer having worked hard to build a decent squad.
There’s been too much player turnover at the club in recent transfer windows and it’s now time to build a team with the individual talents they have.
