The winger went off injured in his side's win against Leganes earlier this month and has been ruled out for several weeks with an ankle injury. According to , the Spain star has been sent to the United Arab Emirates, alongside a cousin and a friend, to relax and work out in the gym. Over the last week, Yamal has been undergoing a treatment with platelet-rich plasma in the hope it allows him to return earlier.

The Catalan side hope to have Yamal, who has six goals and 11 assists to his name across La Liga and the Champions League this season, back in contention for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on January 8. He has already been ruled out of the Copa del Rey clash at Barbastro four days prior.
