The official statement from the club on the player's return read, "James Maddison is back in full training and joined up with his teammates at Hotspur Way with full focus on Friday night's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Manchester City (kick-off 8pm).
"Our number 10 has been out of action for almost three months since sustaining an ankle injury against Chelsea in November 2023 and has been working hard behind the scenes on his rehabilitation as he eyes a much-anticipated return."

The news of the England international's return comes as a huge boost for The Lilywhites ahead of their crucial FA fourth-round clash against reigning English champions Manchester City on Friday. Since joining the club in the summer from Leicester City, the 27-year-old has featured in 12 games across all competitions where he scored thrice and provided six assists.
