West Bromwich Albion striker Kenneth Zohore could soon face an uphill battle to regain his place amongst Slaven Bilic’s plans after BirminghamLive reporter Joseph Chapman revealed he is a ‘long long way’ from being involved again.
What’s he said?
The Baggies are proving they are a force to be reckoned with at the top of the Championship table after Saturday’s victory in the west Midlands derby handed them a two-point gap over title rivals Leeds United, as well as a cushion of 12 points to Preston North End in third place.
Bilic’s men are the league’s highest scorers by some distance having bagged 45 times in 22 games, the next best is the aforementioned chasing pack with 35 goals to their name.

The Croatian has got his side firing on all cylinders, so much so that Charlie Austin has netted six goals in five games and Hal Robson-Kanu scoring six times in his last 11 matches – not to mention the contribution of their midfield trio either.
As a result, Zohore has struggled for game time since an £8m switch from fellow second-tier outfit Cardiff City in the summer, and it appears he has plenty of work to do. Chapman said:
“They’re not having any problems at the moment in front of goal, but I can’t help but feel that Albion will be looking to add a further option to that department in January.
“Kenneth Zohore is a long long way from the starting XI right now, and should – God forbid – anything happen to Austin or Robson-Kanu, it’d leave Albion definitely short on a number nine.
“That’s where I can see them recruiting next month.”
Uphill battle
The 25-year-old was one of Bilic’s first signings at the club, joining in July, just a month after he was appointed.
Yet, he has been limited to just four league starts while he hasn’t even been named in a matchday squad for five consecutive weeks now.
His last appearance in the blue and white stripes came for the U23s at the end of October where he netted a brace against Swansea City.
It appears that his time at the club could already be wearing thin, especially after Bilic’s comments this week that both Robson-Kanu and Austin will share the workload in the coming weeks.
The club have also been linked to a range of strikers in January including a return for Dwight Gayle and even Charlton Athletic’s Lyle Taylor.
