Pochettino assesses Chelsea' defensive woesConceded four goals in three straight gamesLost 4-1 to Newcastle UnitedWHAT HAPPENED?
Chelsea suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United on Saturday as they continue to occupy 10th position on the league table with just four wins in 13 matches. They have already conceded 20 goals in the league this season and leaked four goals in a match in their last three league outings against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and the Magpies.
Addressing the issue, Pochettino stated that the team lacks focus and concentration in the backline and also termed Saturday's performance as their worst in the ongoing season.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Chelsea manager said, "No-one is talking after Manchester City after we conceded four, like Manchester City. The amount we concede is because we need to be more focused and concentrated. Today we concede so easily the goals. That's why we are disappointed with that.
"It's a thing that we always talk and try to be solid in our defensive line. It's not only about the defensive line. It's about our performance as group, like a team. Disappointed with our performance, it was our worst game of the season. It's about to blame ourselves."

The Newcastle United clash was supposed to be special for veteran defender Thiago Silva who made history by becoming the oldest-ever player to play for Chelsea at the age of 39 years and 64 days, but instead, the Brazilian was at fault for the Magpies' third goal as his critical error led to Joelinton extending their lead.
Silva's sloppy pass was cut off by his compatriot and Joelinton made no mistake to score past a helpless Robert Sanchez between the sticks. The player later apologised for his horrific mistake.
