Aston Villa fans have urged the club to give Chris Samba a contract following his performance in Tuesday night’s pre-season friendly against Walsall.
The defender’s future at the Midlands outfit remains uncertain as he is yet to be signed permanently by Steve Bruce.
The 33-year-old has spent a good chunk of time with the Championship outfit having joined them towards the end of last season to train.
Samba, who has previously played for Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers, reported for pre-season training, but the club do not have a shortage of centre-backs.
Following the arrival of John Terry from Chelsea, Villa have James Chester, Nathan Baker, Micah Richards and Tommy Elphick.
It seems that Samba helped his case with the fans at least when he had a run-out for Villa during the goalless draw with Walsall.
The former Congo international partnered Terry for a portion of the game, and his performance has convinced supporters that he deserves a permanent deal.
