According to reports in The Sun, West Bromwich Albion failed with a £15m deadline day move for Blackburn Rovers playmaker Bradley Dack, and the Baggies Championship rivals Leeds United need to take advantage of the failed deal during the January transfer window.
What’s the word, then?
The Sun reports that after having a £7m offer for the 24-year-old earlier in the week, the west Midlands outfit returned with a bid worth more than double that on Friday, although Rovers rejected it.
That is hardly surprising given the deal wouldn’t have actually gone through until January and because they wouldn’t have had time to get a replacement in, but the large fee shows just how highly-rated the former Gillingham man is, and how important he is to his club.
Meanwhile, Leeds’ summer transfer business ended with the loan capture of versatile forward Izzy Brown from Chelsea, but following their strong start to the 2018/19 campaign hopes will be high that they are still well in the promotion mix come the start of 2019.
Why should they sign Dack?
The attacking midfielder earned his move to Ewood Park following some outstanding performances for the Gills, and he has been just as effective for his current team, and would almost certainly be even more effective than Samu Saiz currently is in the No.10 role.

The 24-year-old has scored 22 goals and provided a further 14 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire-based outfit, and he has four goals and three assists in four outings in total already this term.
It seems clear that Dack is destined for bigger and better things and while he would help Leeds in their bid to return to the Premier League in the second-half of this season, he also clearly has the ability and the potential to be a real success for them in the top-flight too – meaning he would be worth the large fee he could set them back.
