Speaking after the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed Roberto Firmino after his match-winning display against Tottenham.
What did he say?
The Reds eased past the north London side on Saturday evening, with Firmino’s superb finish in the first-half of the game proving to be the difference-maker in the contest.
And speaking after the conclusion of the match, Klopp paid tribute to his number nine, and opened up on the conversation that he had with the forward.

He said (as quoted by the club’s official website): “When I went to him and wanted to give him a hug after the game, he wanted to stop and talk first. He said, ‘I know I should have scored more goals’… it was absolutely not what I wanted to say! It is true probably, but I didn’t even know exactly.
“He should have with immediately with the first chance: it was brilliant play and then he hits somehow the goalkeeper and Oxlade hits the post. Yes (he is) super player, super. I don’t say this for the first time and will hopefully not say it for the last time. Pretty impressive.”
Big-game player
Whilst Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been carrying the goal-scoring burden for much of the campaign with 15 and 14 strikes to their names respectively, Firmino’s contributions should not be forgotten at all.
The Brazilian has found the back of the net eight times across all competitions, but has also chipped in with an impressive nine assists, and is well on course to getting a ‘double-double’.
Much harder than you’d think… Can you name Liverpool’s top scorers for each of these 25 seasons?
But more than that, his goals have come at important times and in important games too. Take for example his goals in both the semi-final and final of the FIFA Club World Cup, or his brace against title challengers Leicester, or his strike against rivals Chelsea.
Firmino has a knack for delivering when the Reds need it the most, and he proved that once more by netting the all-important winner against Tottenham on Saturday. And as Klopp quite rightly says, it really is “pretty impressive”.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans react to their transfer interest in this Barcelona ace.
