The Swede revealed he had terminal pancreaticcancer in January and that he may only have months left to live. The 76-year-old is gearing up to lead Liverpool in a Legends clash with Ajax at Anfield on Saturday but before then, the former manager was shown a heart-warming video of his former charges, including Gary Neville, Joe Cole and Michael Owen, sending him touching messages of support.

Sven, who has been a Liverpool fan for many years after his father encouraged him to support them, will go down as one of the great managers of his generation. He won silverware with Benfica, Roma, Lazio, and managed more than a dozen clubs in a glittering career, while also guiding England to three successive quarter-finals, in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, and the 2004 European Championships.
