Michail Antonio has failed to hit his usual heights so far this campaign.
Whilst he has never been a regular goalscorer for the Hammers, he has often chipped in with some important goals – his tallies for the last three seasons read eight, nine and six. However, this season, he has failed to match that level, managing just two in 15 appearances.
Sebastien Haller is the man tasked with scoring the goals at the London Stadium, but he too has not lived up to expectations. Despite coming in for a club-record fee last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt, he has managed only seven goals in the Premier League.
At Eintracht Frankfurt last term, he was at his best, scoring 20 goals and providing 12 assists. With Luka Jovic, now at Real Madrid, alongside him, he thrived, helping the German side to the Europa League semi-finals. Clearly, he enjoys playing with a partner up front, but on current form, that man should not be Antonio.

Step forward Albian Ajeti. The Switzerland international joined the Irons from FC Basel last year, but he has been seldom seen this term for West Ham – all in all, he has just 396 minutes of action under his belt. According to ExWHUemployee, David Moyes does not think he is ready for the Premier League – even if he is apparently impressing with his finishing on the training ground.
Ajeti, who is reportedly on £50k-a-week, came to West Ham on the back of a successful period at Basel. In 96 matches, he scored 43 goals, winning the Swiss championship on three separate occasions. Of course, the Premier League is a significant step up, but that does not mean he does not deserve the chance to prove himself – he has seen just 126 minutes of action in that competition.
What is the worse that can happen by giving him his chance? The Hammers are not exactly flying high as it stands. It is quite clear that Moyes must stop being stubborn and should give him his opportunity – who knows, he may end up being pleasantly surprised.
With West Ham’s current plight and the form of some of their players being poor, handing chances to other members of the squad is certainly not the worst of ideas.
Elsewhere, this man’s return could be a ray of hope for West Ham.
